FTSE/JSE Top 40 - USD Net Total Return Index

The index measures the performance, in U.S. dollars and on a net total return basis, of the largest and most liquid South African equity market leaders in the FTSE/JSE All Share universe. Constituents are weighted by free-float-adjusted market capitalisation and screened for investability and liquidity. It is important as a tradeable blue-chip benchmark for South African equities and as a basis for performance measurement, derivatives, and index-tracking products, while the USD net TRI version is useful for offshore investors evaluating returns after dividend tax effects.
