The SEMDEX measures the broad performance of rupee-denominated ordinary shares listed on the Official Market of the Stock Exchange of Mauritius. It is constructed as a market-capitalization-weighted price index using ordinary shares outstanding and closing prices, with divisor adjustments for events such as new issues, cancellations, rights issues, splits and other corporate actions. It is the main benchmark for Mauritius equities and a key gauge of the Mauritian listed equity market within Africa's frontier-market universe.
