At a Glance
The NSE 20 Share Index is Kenya’s long-standing blue-chip equity benchmark, measuring the performance of 20 prominent and actively traded companies on the Nairobi Securities Exchange. It is narrower than the NSE All Share Index and is used as a traditional barometer of leading Kenyan listed equities, especially banks, telecoms, consumer, industrial, insurance, and investment companies. Because it focuses on selected large and liquid counters rather than the whole market, it is important for tracking the performance of Kenya’s established listed companies but is less broad than capitalization-weighted all-market benchmarks.
