TIP is an ETF that provides broad exposure to U.S. Treasury Inflation-Protected Securities (TIPS), whose principal adjusts with CPI inflation. Its interest-rate sensitivity is intermediate, with an effective duration around the mid-6-year range, so price can still move meaningfully when real yields change. It’s commonly used to add inflation-linked government bond exposure and hedge unexpected inflation within a diversified bond allocation.
