SUB is an iShares ETF that tracks an index of investment-grade, U.S. dollar–denominated municipal bonds with short remaining maturities (roughly 1 month to 5 years) and that are generally exempt from the Alternative Minimum Tax (AMT-free). Its short duration profile makes it less sensitive to interest-rate moves than intermediate/long muni funds, and it’s commonly used in taxable accounts to seek federally tax-exempt income with relatively lower rate risk.
