BKLN is an ETF designed to track the performance of the U.S. senior secured (leveraged) loan market, using the Morningstar LSTA US Leveraged Loan Index as its benchmark. Because the underlying loans typically have floating-rate coupons (often reset periodically), the fund generally exhibits very low interest-rate duration, and is commonly used as a way to seek income with less sensitivity to rising Treasury yields than traditional fixed-rate bond funds. Key risks are primarily credit/spread risk (below-investment-grade borrowers), liquidity, and downside in economic slowdowns despite the senior-secured position in the capital structure.
